For the last 30 days or so Boise State has become the most talked about football program in the country, gaining more discussion and attention than Ohio State and Alabama combined. This year they have graced the regional cover of Sports Illustrated twice in about 30 days.
Almost every college game you tune has Boise State as part of the discussion. It seems there is no escaping the Broncos. You either love them or hate them. Right now the SEC and the BCS hate them with a passion because they have become a major threat to the BCS's money pool and a threat to the SEC who is accustomed to having one of their own in every BCS NC game and now here comes the Broncos, those brazen Idaho spud peelers threatening their sovereignty.
The burning question in college football is do the Broncos deserve a spot in the national championship game if they win out and the replies on both sides of the question are just as burning as the question.
We have all heard the argument that Boise could not survive playing the same schedule week in and week out that the SEC, Big 10 and the other AQ Conferences play. They seem to forget neither could they so the fill up with as many cupcakes as possible for their oc games.
I seriously doubt that these other conferences could do as well as Boise State and other mid majors like TCU and Utah following our travel schedules. Georgia`s Mark Richt complained about having to travel all the way to Colorado and how it would impact his team. I think he had a point as Colorado truly a team struggling beat the Bull Dogs. Hey coach we travel all the way to LA points in-between and still win.
Bottom line if Boise does run the table they will and Nevada`s only loss is to Boise State, the Broncos will have defeated on the road one top ten team, at home one top 25 team and on the road what ever ranking the Wolf Pack has.
If they are the one of two undefeated teams at the end of the season then they deserve a bite at the big apple, they have earned it on the field doing something any team would have trouble doing, three back to back perfect regular seasons and one BCS Bowl win.
That is my take, if you disagree please sound off, lets get a good spirited debate going.
