Will Muschamp is now the former Defensive coordinator and head coaching waiting from the Texas Longhorns to the new head coach for the Florida Gators. Muschamp will replace Urban Meyer who last week resigned as coach of the Gators.
This appointment makes Muschamp at age 39 one of the youngest head coaches in college football.
He does have a very impressive resume:
2008-2010: Texas (defensive coordinator/linebackers)
2006-07: Auburn (defensive coordinator/secondary)
2005: Miami Dolphins (assistant head coach for defense)
2002-04: LSU (defensive coordinator/linebackers)
2001: LSU (linebackers)
2000: Valdosta State (defensive coordinator)
1999: Eastern Kentucky (secondary)
1998: West Georgia (secondary)
1995-96: Auburn (graduate assistant)
Having spent 10 years growing up in Gainesville and going to Gator games he is very familiar with the SEC and the history and traditions of Gator Football.
Muschamp has produced some of the nations best defenses in college ball over the last decade including the 2003 LSU defense that won the national title.
Congrats to the Florida Gators on a great hire and to Will Muschamp and his family for his new position.
