Anyone familiar with Gary Patterson knows he doesn't mince words and has one heck of a fiery personality. For TCU and their football program this was a bad scandal and Patterson swore he would clean it up.
Patterson is a man of his word. He drug tested last month and has informed his team they can expect another one when they return from Spring Break.
"A lot of our kids can't afford to go to one of those places," Patterson said, referring to places of ill repute like Padre Island or Miami. "So they'll go home, get a chance to see their buddies. They need a break. They've been going hard since January. We've been pushing them pretty hard."
The Horned Frogs better enjoy this break because it's probably the first time Patterson hasn't had them under lock and key considering the embarrassment the program endured last month. So be good on spring break, Horned Frogs, because you'll have to pee in a cup to prove you were, and remember, big brother Patterson is always watching.
I agree with what Patterson is doing. Under his watch TCU has emerged as a football power house playing in two BCS Bowls, the Fiesta Bowl, losing to Boise State and beating Wisconsin in The Rose Bowl.
In my opinion playing college football is a privilege not a right. The players are the face of the their school and as such should hold themselves to a higher standard than the rest of the students. Their on and off field actions do receive more scrutiny than the average student, playing sports on a winning team affords them more advantages, like a pro career in their chosen sport.
Any how that is my opinion and I would love to hear yours. Please leave your comments and please vote.
