The excitement lingers on for fans, teams and players alike but the 2009 NFL Draft is in the books.
For many it was a big pay day and the promise of economic security for life, for others it was...maybe I can sign as a free agent and for others it was just no luck at all.
For the first time in 4 years my Boise State Broncos failed to have a player drafted. How time have changed. As Boise State fans we are disappointed nobody was drafted especialy seeing Ian Johnson come away empty handed.
Yet how far we have come, it was not that many years ago we were excited to see one or two player considered draft eligble, let alone actualy be drafted.
Ian and all purpose player Vinny Peretta were given free agent contracts by the Minnesota Vikings, that is the good new for Bronco fans, the other part is at least both men get a shot at the NFL putting them way ahead of the game for those that may only get a walk on invite or for those that will have to llok to Canada or Arena Football.
Now that spring ball and the draft are over football fans face the long drought of summer anxiously awaiting the arrival of fall and a new season, one of hope and promise as the season unfolds.
So for now best of luck to all those that were drafted and to those that still got free agent contracts, I do hope you can make your dreams come true and play in the NFL.
