I dont know about you, but I get tired of reading of all the toruble college and proffesional athletes get in.
I am tired of Michael Vick and what he plans to do after prison. He like so many other pros and collegiate athletes did it to himself and the press never lets go. They the press create an insatiable appetiete for the failures of athletes.
Finaly we have on athlete Brian Dawkins of the Denver Broncos in the news and it is for his big heart and sense of fair play. Certainly it is not as big a head line as a T.O. tantrum or Palexico shooting himself but it is certainly news worthy and deserves attention.
Dan Leone a part time Philedelphia Eagle employ was fired from his job with the Eagles for voicing his opinion on his blog. So much for freedom of speech.
What Leone did, was offer a critical opinion of the Eagles for allowing Dawkins to leave the team via the free agency route. Leon did not like it, thought it a mistake and shared his thoughts on the internet. for his efforts he was fired and no longer receives free tickets to Eagle home games.
Personaly I think this makes the Eagles front office look rather thin skinned in a business that requires a very thick epidermis. It not like he was picketing or throwing verabl rocks, he just voiced his opinion.
As fans we all have opinions of what our teams do or dont do, that is part of the sport and its attraction.
The Eagles and Denver tee it up this year and Dawkins has given to Dan Leone his two free tickets to the game. I would imagine Leon will cheer for his beloeved Eagles while cheering every play Brian Dawkins makes for the Broncos.
It is refreshing to see a pro athlete step up to the plate and reward the man who defended him and wanted him to wear Eagle green.
My hat is off to you Mr. Dawkins, great play, lots of class, too bad you couldnt have taught who ever fired Dan Leone that same class you have.
