Secret Santa In Meridian, Idaho

Christmas brings out the best in people and it certainly did with a couple in Meridian, Idaho.

Below is the link to the story. I hope you enjoy it.

                                          Secret Santa

MERIDIAN -- Christmas is less than 20 days away, and this is a time of year when we are reminded of the needs of others. Thursday, we went to Walmart with two folks who are not just buying gifts -- they're giving them.
These folks were headed to the Wal Mart layaway department. It is usually a place where toys are held like captives until the buyer can pay their bill. However, the gifts one man came to pay off were not for him. He's a secret Santa, paying off layaway balances for people he's never met.
To keep his secret, we cannot show you his face.
"Last year it was $1,100, and this year it'll be $1,500," he said. "What I get is what I feel inside, and that's wonderful. And the people that receive it, what they feel inside, because they know somebody cared."
He started doing this last Christmas. He is retired, but works part time just to earn money for his Secret Santa shopping. He even got his friend involved.
"It pulls you out of your normal everyday thought pattern into really what the holiday is about and that's giving," she said.
For her, it hits home. Until she met this Secret Santa, she was living on the street.
"I've been homeless. I know what it's like to be in need, be in want. And I know what it's like to not have a Christmas," she said.
With her help, this Santa gets enough money to help someone else have a present to open on Christmas morning.
"That's the nicest Christmas present -- now I get is that feeling Christmas morning, when I know that other kids and other kids are going to have a nice Christmas, and that I was part of it," he said.
On Thursday, they went to two Walmart locations and paid off seven layaway accounts. However, they are not done for the season yet. Saturday they plan to pay off a couple more. They hope to be able to spend even more next Christmas.
The deadline for Wal Mart's layaway program is December 14th--that's next Friday. So if you'd like to be a Santa too, you have one week to join this season of giving.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Football Hit: Is This One Legal?

Last weekends game between Ole Moss and Utep has some post game fall out.

Ole Miss freshman saftey Trae Elston received a one game suspension for a hit he put on UTEP receiver Jordan Leslie. The penalty was not issued by the NCAA but instead was meted out by the SEC. Making the situation questionable is the fact that Elston was flagged for the hit.

The SEC expalined itself to the medi citing the following reulations and rules.

The action is in violation of Rule 9-1-4 of the NCAA Football Rule Book, which reads, "No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder," and Rule 9-1-3 which states, "No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet."
This action is taken in accordance with Southeastern Conference Constitution, Article 4.4.2 (d) which states that a student-athlete may be suspended if it is determined that the student-athlete has committed a flagrant or unsportsmanlike act.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze siad he was disappointed in the action and in losing the services of Elston in their next game which is against the 14th ranked Texas Longhorns. There is no appeal for this SEC ruling.

I have veiwed the following video several times and see no violation. Look at it and decide for yourself, was it a clean play or a flagrant violation as claimed by the SEC.

College Football Gets a New Passing Record

NCAA history was made Saturday night and only 900 people were there to witness the event.

Division III quarterback Sam Durley from Eureka College set a new passing record against Knox College. In what was an offensive shoot out Durley passed for 736 yards leading his team to a 62 to 55 win.

To put that in perspective, Durley through for more yards than Alabama and Michigan gained in combined yards of total offense in their game last night.

Durley was 34 of 52 through for 5 touchdowns that included 2 in the last two minutes to pull out the win. Congrats to Sam Durley.

The SEC: Is It As Great As They Claim? Part 1

Since the inception of the BCS in 1998 we have been told that the SEC from top to bottom, is the dominate conference in college football. We have been fed this information from the sports pundits in print and television. Every week former ESPN analyst Craig James would holler body of work. He would bash every BCS Buster claiming none of them could sustain the weekly grind of an SEC schedule. Are the pundits correct?

Author of Better Off Without 'Em: A Northern Manifesto for Southern Secession Chuck Thompson devotes one chapter in his book challenging SEC superiority.

In an article featured in Yahoo Sports, The Post Game Thompson begins his challenge asking if the SEC is so dominate why since the start of the BCS era in 1998 does the conference have overall losing records against the Pac-12 (11-12) and Big East (19-23) and superior but not dominating records against other major conferences?

ESPN is a major contributor SEC superiority. Every week we hear all their talking heads saying the SEC is  from top to bottom the toughest football conference decorating the college landscape. Is that true or is it part of a well constructed ESPN business plan designed to the SEC and their $2.25 billion dollar SEC investment?

Arguments supporting SEC superiority since the inception of the BCS are they have won 8 of the 14 national championship games, including the last 6. Infact the SEC has won the national title an astonishing 57.14 % since the advent of the BCS. Yet in the 50 years previous to the BCS the SEC claimed the national crown only 10.42 % of the time.

Certainly an amazing turn around in a relatively short period of time. Whats the cause of this amazing turn around?

Lamarr Woodley: He's A Stud

Pittsburg Steeler LB from Saginaw, Michigan Lamarr Woodley is a real stud. He is the kind of off the field man we can all admire.

Saginaw, Mi was hard hit in the recession, jobs lost services cut back and people having to pay more and receive less.

One of the services hit hard was sports. Kids had to pony up $75.00 to play sports, doesn't sound like alot of money but for many families its the difference between food and other items.

Woodley cut a check for $60 grand to the Saginaw School District covering the entire bill for all the kids for all the sports. Now any boy or girl can participate due to the generosity of Lamarr Woodley, a man who remembers where he came from.

What do Condoleeza Rice and Serena Williams have in common?

They certainly make an odd couple. A former Secretary of State and a tennis icon but they do have something in common.

The NFL has decided to market fashion football gear for women titled its my team.

The Cleveland Browns are honored to have Condi in their corner and I would think #16 Josh Cribbs is delighted to see Condi wearing his number. As a fan I like the way she looks in the jersey much more than the way he looks.

Serena is in a different situation, when she says the Miami Dolphins, Its My Team, she is right, she and her sister Venus are part owners of the Dolphins.

Look for Melania Trump and Peta Murgatroyd to appear in the ad campaign sporting their teams football apparel

Rhiannon Madden, NFL’s director of apparel, said: 'We want to show that you can be a [football] fan by what you wear to work, going to the gym or out at night with girlfriends.
'It’s also a message of empowerment. It’s your team–not your guy’s team,' she said.

Personally I think this ad campaign will be very succesful and not be limited to female consumers.

Football Punters: Are They The Next Leather Helmet?

I know on the surface that question sounds nuts but is it? Is it possible that punters and punt returns could become fully or partially obsolete?

If San Diego State's Rocky Long moves forward with what he is thinking, we may see the beginning of the end of the punting game as we know it.
Coach Long has indicated in and interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune he doesn't want to punt in 2012. What Long is mulling over is not punting on 4th down if the Aztecs are beyond the opponents 50. His reasoning is every time they are successful on a 4th down conversion, they will be running more plays, increase their scoring opportunities and tire out the defense by keeping them on the field.

Long, considered an innovative coach, who developed the 3-3-5 defense while coaching at New Mexico is not the brains behind this strategy, that honor belongs to Kevin Kelly.

Kevin Kelley is the head football coach of Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Ark. During his 9 years at the helm his teams have won three state titles while amassing a 104-19 win loss record. Kelly came up with some interesting statistics to back up his refusal to punt.  According to Kelley's statistics, when a team punts from near its end zone, the opponent will take possession inside the 40-yard line and will then score a touchdown 77 percent of the time. If it recovers on downs inside the 10, it will score a touchdown 92 percent of the time.

Another thing Kelly does that is changing the game is his kick off strategy. He doesn't kick the ball deep or attempt squib kicks to reduce run backs. Infact the new kick off rules of advancing the ball deeper down field will only serve to give Kelly a kick off advantage. Kelly does the onsides kick every time.

Will more teams adopt the Kelly philosophy and make the punting game and kick off game the new leather helmet? Only time will tell and we shall see how college ball responds if Coach Long and his Aztecs follow Kevin Kelly's lead.

University of Idaho Vandals: What are you thinking

You did this type of poster a few years ago and were badly roasted for such a dumb move.

Do you think doing this poster a second time will be better? Do they really think seeing a bunch oiled up half naked football players wearing chains is going to intimidate opposing teams? Do you guys think Les Miles and LSU are trembling about playing you guys or laughing their asses off looking at this poster. Are you hoping maybe they will have mercy on you and keep their score under 60?

Please tell me you are not bringing back the infamous I butt logo. Vandals, you are more embarassing to our state than your former student body president and our former senator Larry Craig who was caught toilet trolling in the Minneapolis Airport men's room back in 2007.

The NCAA Will Announce Penn States Punishment

Today the NCAA announced that tomorrow morning they will tell the world what sanctions Penn State will have to endure.

The NCAA said in a statement on Sunday that it will announce "corrective and punitive measures" for Penn State at 9 a.m. on Monday. While multiple reports indicate that the school will no receive the so-called "death penalty" that would have would suspended the football program, the sanctions are expected to be harsh.

Harsh? I know my opinion may lose me business in the state of Pa and with Nittany Lions fans. However their offense, ( Sandusky, Paterno, Spanier and Curly) is so egregious anything short of the death penalty is an affront to the Penn State victims.

The entire leadership of Penn State closed their eyes to a child molester who used their football program as bait for child rape. The rapes took place in their facilities and they allowed it.

By far this is more offensive than MSU paying players to play. This is the poster child for an institution out of control with greed for money, prestige and power. They feared for themselves instead of taking the right course of action protecting the helpless against a predator. They made all the school and their football program stand for a lie.

They made a terrible choice, instead of doing the right thing, taking a small hit and in the end walking their talk and becoming heroes, they took the cowards way out, enabling a child molesting rapist to use their assets to continue his evil ways.

In my mind that does deserve the death penalty, once again the NCAA has wimped out bowing to the pressures of powerful schools and looking at the money. Shame on the NCAA

Joe Paterno: His Statue Is Removed

Penn State makes the right move and removes the Joe Paterno Statue.

"I now believe that, contrary to its original intention, coach Paterno's statue has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing in our university and beyond," university president Rodney Erickson said in a statement. "I believe that, were it to remain, the statue will be a recurring wound to the multitude of individuals across the nation and beyond who have been the victims of child abuse."

A picture is worth a thousand words, I believe this picture says it all. It clearly represents what Joe Pa, Spanier and Curly did at Penn State, closed their eyes to Sandusky's child raping ways.

As the sun came up, the Joe Paterno statue began coming down.
By 7:45 a.m. this morning, jackhammers rattled behind a metal fence covered by a blue tarp. The statue was tied to a forklift. The fence shielded the statue, covered in clear plastic and protective packaging materials.
The statue was removed at 8:24 a.m. The forklift carried it into the stadium's Gate A as about a dozen workers followed.
A moment later, a man in the crowd started a "We are Penn State" chant. After it finished, another man yelled, "We love you, Joe."

Gone are the words describing Paterno as a humanitarian. An hour after workers removed the statue, they removed all plaques and lettering from the wall behind where the statue stood.

In this country we do not build shrines to pedophiles or their enablers. The evidence clearly shows Joe Paterno was an enabler.

A University of Idaho Vandal: What was he thinking?

As most of you know, I am an ardent Boise State Bronco fan. Needless to say when the opportunity comes to jab the Vandals I usually make use of the chance. However I have not used this blog to do so.

Earlier this year the Vandals were forced to remove " flagship university" from their mission statement. Naturally the vandals were upset and raised a big ruckus over this perceived lack of respect.

Perhaps they would fare better if they taught their alums how to spell. The following picture was recently taken at the Spokane, Washington Airport.

Vandal fans, seriously? VanDall?

Of course this is the same University of Idaho Vandals who embarrassed themselves in their 2008 opening game against the University of Arizona. Nice logo placement
Flag ship university, I don't think so.

Jay Prosch Cleared to Play

The weeks news for the Auburn Tigers was certainly a mixed bag.

On the upside, Jay Porsch being cleared to play this season is good news for Jay and his new team.

Usually when a player makes a lateral transfer he is requited to sit out a season. However when Porsch tranfered to Auburn from Illinois he succesfully pleaded hardship. His mother is ill with cancer and he wanted to be closer to home where he could be more involved in helping his mom.

The downside for Auburn, the bad news still coming off the 2010 championship team. They are still getting fallout publicity from  players off the nationial title team involved in armed robbery.

On Tuesday 21 year old Antonio Goodwin was senteced to 15 years in prison for his participation in an in the crime. In March of 2011 Goodwin along with fellow teamates Mike McNeil, Dakota Moseley and Shaun Kitchens robbed a family at gun point.

Auburn is also informed of a delay in the trail of Harvey Updike. For those of you that don't know, Updike is the Alabama fan charged with the poisoning of theAuburn cherished Toomer's Corner oak trees. The poisoning accured right after the Tigers defeated ithe Tide in the 2010 Iron Bowl.

The reason for the delay is the publicity generated by an alleged Updyke confession on the courthouse steps. Updike denies having made the confessiuon, however 29 of 31 prospective jurors acknowledged they had heard something about the supposed confession.

The other three are still awaiting trial.

LaDainian Tomilison Calls it Quits

After 11 years in the NFL, Ladainian  Tomlinson announced he will not be returning for a 12th season.

All but 2 years of his sterling career were as a San Diego Charger, where in 2006 he won the MVP honors.

Ray Lewis, the Ravens all star linebacker who rarely gives praise to opponents had this to say about Tomilinson.

"LT changed the way the running back is looked at," Lewis told the Chargers' official site. "You think about him being a complete three-down back and using that as a receiver as well. You hadn't seen that many backs have that type of versatility. He was one of those backs that you had to get in position on all downs on the ball. I think that's the way he really changed the game."

Terrell Owens: He Doesn't Get It

For some reason he still sees himself as a "Super Star."  He didn't get it his first time in Dallas, when no one showed up for his training session to show the pros he still has it and now with his arena football team.

His ego once again has sabotaged his career.Earlier this week his team, the Dallas based Wranglers have dismissed Owens for contract violations. He refused to participate in two road trip games.

As if that were not bad enough he failed to show up at a scheduled charity event for a children s hospital . How arrogant is that? These kids need something special and they deserve better than TO.

Owens is threatening the Wranglers with a wrongful termination suite. Seems the mighty TO is upset about how they are treating him, poor baby. They paid him off on his ownership of the Wranglers with a $50.00 check. Personally I think he was overpaid $49.99 so he should be grateful.

They have served him an eviction notice from the home he was supplied and asked for the return of the 2012 Jeep Cherokee they gave him for transportation.

Owens did this to himself. He could have been one of the greatest WR in the history of the NFL Instead he will be remembered more for being the petulant brat he chose to become.

National Football League: New Rules

Beginning in 2013 there will be some new safety rules instituted by the NFL. Oddly enough there are players that are opposed to the new regulations.

What could the new rules be? Well the players dont like it because they believe it will take away from their speed and mobility. The new rule will require the players to wear knee and thigh pads. Until I read the article I was unaware the pros were not wearing that protective gear.

I disagree with the players who claim the pads will make them slower and less mobile. These pads are worn from little league through college ball. It only makes sense they continue to wear them in the pros where the hitting is harder.

SEC & Big 12 Strike A Deal

College football's landscape keeps changing. The more it changes the more it leaves others out. As you all know by now there is a move under foot to have a 4 game play off to determine the national champion for collegiate football.

The 4 contenders would come from the perceived 4 top BCS conferences. Seems that will leave 2 conferences out or will the BCS as we know it dismiss two of its conferences?

Now the SEC and Big 12 have struck a deal to have their own bowl game in an attempt to rival the Rose Bowl. This new bowl game will be initiated after the 2014 season. The champions of the Big 12 and SEC will face off with each other on a date and site to be determined. However if one or both of the conference champions are involved in the 4 team tournament to determine the national champion then the next team in line from each conference will fill the conference position in this new bowl game. . It also provides those two conferences an opportunity to send their champions to the Rose Bowl under the same provisions as this new bowl deal, leaving out the ACC and Big East. Read more...

Car Racing Icon Carroll Shelby Has Died

Many of you have heard of the Shelby GT sold by Ford. Older readers will recall the Selby Ford Cobra, one of the fastest street cars ever made. He turned the Ford Mustang, a car he once called a secretaries car, into one of the most popular street cars of the 1960s.

Shelby passed away a couple of days ago. I read his obituary and found he was an amazing man who led a very full and productive life.

In my opinion the likes of Gregg Williams and the other coaches and players that participated in bountygate do not belong in football. They were willing to destroy opponents health and careers and did not care how they did it. Football is tough enough there is no acceptable excuse for putting bounty s on other players.

Remember Alex Tanney

Last year he was an internet sensation on YouTube. Tanney a quarterback for Monmouth posted a video on YouTube demonstrating his trick shots with a football. His shots were amazing.

Like so many other players across the country he was ignored in last weeks NFL draft. However not all was lost. Seems some NFL teams are scouting players with great YouTube videos and Tanney is one who has reaped dividends from his video.

Philadelphia's Howard Lynn Is an Unusual Punter/Kicker

Philadelphia's Howard Lynn is your typical high school senior, he loves sports and plans to go onto college and maybe play sports in college. When it comes to his role in football, he breaks the norm.

He did the punting, kicking and pat chores for his team last season, nothing really unusual there. Where he break the norm is he a solid left footed punter and does his kicking chores with the right foot.

Boise State's Kellen Moore

The NFL draft is over and most who are going to sign free agent contracts have done so. The nations most winning quarterback, Boise States Kellen Moore was not drafted. However as soon as the draft ended he did sign as a free agent with the Detroit Lions.

Many of us Bronco fans were disappointed that old number 11 was overlooked but we were not surprised. His 50-3 record was not enough to over shadow his height and arm strength.

I am glad he is getting his chance. Detroit will be an ideal situation for Moore. Titus Young, a stand out wide receiver for the Lions is a former Boise State great. This plays strongly into Kellen's hands. He has a friend on the team and a receiver he knows. Moore and Young know each others moves very well giving Moore a target to throw to that he knows very well.

Even though Moore went undrafted I think he has his best shot at being an NFL player in Detroit and I also think he will prove the pundits wrong.

The Fiesta Bowl Gets a New Facebook Cover

Boise State's quarterback Zabranski is the second guy from the left. Timeless moments made in seconds sums up that Fiesta Bowl against the Oklahoma Sooners.

It is the best game I have ever been to and certainly one of the greatest finishes in college football history.

Three plays that changed the game.

Way To Go Philip Humber

White Sox pitcher Philip Humber joins a very eleit club. Today he threw the 21st perfect game in baseball history.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/philip-humber-unlike-perfect-game-wihite-sox-mariners.html

Bobby Petrino Makes it Big

You know you are a star when someone makes a T-Shirt exploiting your tales of daring due. Bobby P has joined that elite club of having a T-Shirt honoring his latest exploits.

I think this far surpasses the 2004 Liberty Bowl when he coached the Louisville Cardinals and their fans were chanting LSU.

For those that are not familiar with the story, it was his second year of trying to throw the Cards under the bus. In 2003 he became the HC for Louisville, during the season his former boss Tommy Tuberville was coming under fire from Auburn. Petrino held secret meetings with Auburn to replace Tuberville. Once it was exposed, Louisville gave Bobby a second chance and Petrino pledged his loyalty to the Cards.

At the end of the 2004 season Petrino was rewarded with a 10 yr 25 million dollar contract. Within weeks of signing the deal he was in secret meetings with LSU. His then latest scandal broke just before the Liberty Bowl, which is why during the game Card fans were chanting LSU. The general consensus was had Boise State beaten Louisville is a very tough exciting game, Petrino would have been served his walking papers.

My only hope is that Petrino does not get a slice of the action of shirt sales.

British Olympics Make Huge Error

Tthe British Olympic Organizing Olympic Committee has egg on its face. Naturally they want opening ceremonies to rival the ones we saw in Beijing and they are trying to do their best to put on an opening ceremony that will be talked about long after the Olympics end.

However in order to succeed they must follow the rule of due diligence. The asked  the  manager of group The Who, if legendary drummer Keith Moon would like to participate in the opening ceremonies.

There in lies the problem. Keith Moon died in 1978.

CEO of BodyBuilding.com Pleads Guilty

Ryan DeLuca put $20,000 down to buy a web domain called Bodybuilding.com in 1999. He soon found himself straddling a rocket.
In a year, his company reached $1 million in sales. A year later, $5 million. DeLuca’s site combining a store selling dietary supplements, an information center on fitness, and a place bodybuilding buffs could chat propelled Bodybuilding.com to prominence. By 2006, it was the world’s largest fitness website.

As a fellow Idahoan I am very disappointed in Mr DeLuca and his decision to sell that junk to people. I can only guess it was greed motivated. In 2008 I discussed selling his products on my site scoretouchdowns.com and just had a bad feeling about it and am so glad I changed my mind about affiliating my site with his products.

Arkansas Fires Bobby Petrino

I support the Arkansas AD is his decision. Petrino's web of dishonesty left Mr. Long no choice.

Do you agree or disagree with Arkansas letting Petrino go? Please post your comments.

Bobby Petrino is An Idiot

Many of you might know, Arkansas Football Coach Bobby Petrino was injured in a motorcycle accident. No worries he will be fine, not sure the same can be said for his coaching position. He may be looking for a new job.

The Razorbacks have put Petrino on leave. Athletic Director Jeff Long placed Petrino on leave and has put assistant coach Taver Johnson at the helm of the football program, while he, Long continues his investigation.

Last weekend Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident where his bike skidded off the road and police were called. There in lies Petrino's troubles. Had he been alone as previously stated or with a family member or friend there would be no issues to resolve. That is why Bobby Petrino is an idiot.

While 51 year old Bobby was off on a road trip, his wife and 4 kids were elsewhere. So who does Mr. Petrino have with him none other than a 25 year old "babe" who just happens to work for the football department. Petrino was accompanied by a former Arkansas volleyball player Jessica Dorrell. Dorrell joined the football staff March 28 of this year.

The accident occurred Sunday night after Petrino had spent the day with his wife and then went off for an evening bike ride. He met up with Miss Dorrell in a shopping mall parking lot and then took off for his joy ride. Dorrell was uninjured and Petrino was not wearing a helmet.

Petrino only informed AD Long about Dorrell minutes before the police report was made public. Petrino apologized and said he had been concerned about protecting his family and keeping an “inappropriate relationship from becoming public.”

What a load of bat crap. Bobby if you want to protect your family from you, dont go straying on your wife.

Petrino signed a new contract with Arkansas in 2010. The contract  had a clause in it that would allow Arkansas to dismiss Petrino for “engaging in conduct, as solely determined by the university, which is clearly contrary to the character and responsibilities of a person occupying the position of head football coach or which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the (university’s) athletics programs in any way.”

Arkansas is a class act and I would expect Mr. Petrino to be in the marketplace looking for a job. I do not see any way they can retain his services and keep their good reputation.

That is my opinion, whats yours please leave a comment.

Green Bay Packers Tell Nike No Thanks

The Green Bay Packers have declined to wear " The Swoosh's"  new uniform for the 2012 season. This rejection includes the uniform design and fabric. Nike is offering the teams a different fabric this season that is supposed to be lighter when wet. Nike put it quite simply.

"The Green Bay Packers have chosen to stay with their traditional design aesthetic as well as their former uniform fabrication for the coming season."

Would you expect anything less of a team who is so rooted in the NFL's history? Read More

New Orleans Saints Bounty Hunters: Are They The Hunted?

The bounty hunters of the New Orleans Saints just might see themselves as the hunted. No players or teams will be placing a bounty on the heads of Saints hunters. However the legal system may.

The NLPA warns the players to lawyer up, there might be criminal prosecutions. Typically these type of cases are difficult to bring in the arena of pro sports, however I would agree with it in this case.

Roger Goodell has warned there will be other disciplinary measures brought against players that participated in the pay for hurting the opponent scheme launched by Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints.

Personally I felt Goodell let HC Payton off with a slap on the wrist. A one year suspension? Whats up with that? To me it was a nothing punishment, just smoke and mirrors. So what if Payton cant earn $6 million next season. The dude has plenty of money and can come back after one season.

In 1963 Pete Rozelle was the NFL Commissioner and in my opinion a much tougher boss that Goodell. Football stars Paul Hornung of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions star Alex Karras were each given indefinite suspensions by Rozelle. Their offense was betting on games, not throwing them just betting them.

It took a year of powerful lobbying by Green Bay coach Vince Lombardi and others to get Hornung's and Karras's suspensions lifted. Hornung promised never again to visit Las Vegas or attend another Kentucky Derby while playing in the NFL.

Payton  was willing to risk the lives and careers of other people to advance his own agenda, getting the Saints to another Super Bowl. Since no sacrifice by his opponents was too much to pay for what Payton wanted, then he just be punished in-kind.

Payton's DC was given an indefinite suspension and in my opinion, so should Payton. He was just to indifferent to the health and lively hood of other people........screw  Sean Payton.........pro football is better off without him.

Anyhow that is my opinion, please share yours.

Kentucky Hoops Fans Give Sports Fans a Blackeye

Kentucky fans dance around a fire on State Street as they celebrate Kentucky's 69-61 win over Louisville in an NCAA Final Four semifinal college basketball tournament game, Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Lexington, Ky. (AP Photo/The Courier-Journal, Amy Wallot) NO SALES; MAGS OUT; NO ARCHIVE; MANDATORY CREDIT

I hate to see this when a team wins and its fans turn the celebration into riots. It gives all sports fans a bad name. We have seen it all across the country in different sports, like when Boston finally won a world series.

Seriously Kentucky fans act like you have been there before--- because you have. READ MORE

Craig James Doesnt Know When To Shut UP

Remember Craig James the former SMU running back? You know the one who finally this year admitted he took cash under the table as a player. You know the guy who used to be an ESPN announcer.

The guy who got Mike Leach fired two years ago for an alleged abuse of James's son Adam. The guy who used his position at ESPN to vilify and excoriate Coach Leach. The same Craig James now running for the U.S. Senate from the Great State of Texas.

Mr James's senate campaign is not doing well, he is behind in all the polls. Usually this means the candidate has little to no name recognition and faces an uphill fight to win an election. In James's case just the opposite is true. Craig James has tremendous name recognition and that seems to be the problem, Texans really do know who he is and what he stands for.

If Mr. James is trying to appeal to the Boise State fans who reside in Texas, due to his body of work, he is wasting his time.

This is the same Craig James who hired a pr firm to end Leaches coaching career and now is calling Leach a bully. Craig learn to focus on the issues, your fight with Leach will be settled in the courts.

New Overtime Rules in the NFL

The overtime rules that referees and players couldn't keep straight in the playoffs are coming to the regular season.
League owners voted on Wednesday to change overtime rules for the whole season. The postseason overtime that was implemented in 2010 will now be used all year. Instant sudden death is out, with a few caveats.
Each team must possess or have the opportunity to possess the ball unless the team that has the ball first scores a touchdown on its initial possession. Play continues in sudden death until a winner is determined, and the game automatically ends upon any score (by safety, field goal, or touchdown).
In layman's terms: As Tim Tebow and Demaryius Thomas showed in the AFC wild-card game, a team will win if it scores a touchdown on the first possession of overtime. If a field goal is scored, the game continues and begins as sudden death.
Even though the playoff system was used twice in the 2012 playoffs, we've yet to see the new rules come into effect. Both overtime games wouldn't have been any different even if the old rules had been in place. The Broncos-Steelers contest finished on the first possession. The 49ers-Giants championship game extended into multiple possessions. READ MORE
