Jay Prosch Cleared to Play

The weeks news for the Auburn Tigers was certainly a mixed bag.

On the upside, Jay Porsch being cleared to play this season is good news for Jay and his new team.

Usually when a player makes a lateral transfer he is requited to sit out a season. However when Porsch tranfered to Auburn from Illinois he succesfully pleaded hardship. His mother is ill with cancer and he wanted to be closer to home where he could be more involved in helping his mom.

The downside for Auburn, the bad news still coming off the 2010 championship team. They are still getting fallout publicity from  players off the nationial title team involved in armed robbery.

On Tuesday 21 year old Antonio Goodwin was senteced to 15 years in prison for his participation in an in the crime. In March of 2011 Goodwin along with fellow teamates Mike McNeil, Dakota Moseley and Shaun Kitchens robbed a family at gun point.

Auburn is also informed of a delay in the trail of Harvey Updike. For those of you that don't know, Updike is the Alabama fan charged with the poisoning of theAuburn cherished Toomer's Corner oak trees. The poisoning accured right after the Tigers defeated ithe Tide in the 2010 Iron Bowl.

The reason for the delay is the publicity generated by an alleged Updyke confession on the courthouse steps. Updike denies having made the confessiuon, however 29 of 31 prospective jurors acknowledged they had heard something about the supposed confession.

The other three are still awaiting trial.
