Football Tackling Drills

We have added a new category at scoretouchdowns.com, the new science of tackling.

We are very excited to have this category, football tackling and present tackling training videos by Coach Chuck Clemens the Co-Defensive Coordinator at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.

For many years teaching tackling fundamentals has not been taught correctly or, it's been assumed that players know how to tackle. In the process, lazy habits are formed. Coach Clemens corrects these habits replacing them with new tackling skills known as the new science of tackling.

Coach Clemens illustrates the the football tackling drills that improved his teams tackling ratio.

Since implementing a new concept of teaching tackling to his players, Central Missouri has improved dramatically on their number of missed tackles. Charting the number of missed tackles for each game, UCM improved the number by 70 over a two-year period.

Last fall Central Missouri finished sixth in the nation among all Division II colleges in turnovers gained. Part of the reason for their success, according to the team's Co-Defensive Coordinator Chuck Clemens, is a dramatic improvement in UCM's tackling.

Nothing is more frustrating than seeing missed tackles, missed tackles that could cost you the game.

In this three part series the new science of tackling Coach Clemens takes you through basics starting with the concept and strategy behind proper tackling. You will learn a detailed tackling progression that you can install at your own practices: start with the finish; hit-up on your opponent; ground to the run; and focal point presence.

Check out our new football tackling category and see what the new science of tackling can do for you.
