Cinderella Is Going To The Ball

Last night Butler University defeated the Michigan State Spartans. Butler entered the game with the Spartans as a 1 point favorite and despite being held scoreless for a period that ran 10 minutes the Dawgs eked out a 52-50 win in a very exciting game. Can you say Hoosiers?

Until now, the Butler BullDogs were less known than their state counter parts of Purdue and Indiana, they were considered the mid majors wannabes and on Monday night while the rest of the nation watches, Butler takes to the hardwood against #1 seeded Duke.

In football, it is said defense wins championships and in this case defense takes Butler to the National Title Game. Last night's win over Michigan State was not a at the buzzer shot that sent Sparty home, it was a last minute stop that takes Cinderella to the Big Ball.

Last nights stop facilitated their 5th consecutive tournament win playing defense. Defense has marked Butler’s ascendancy through the season. Last night was no different, once again they held the opponent to under 60 points.

Monday night as they take the court against Basket Ball Royalty, Duke University, look for the Butler Dawgs to be short on bark and long on bite. The kind of bite that has brought them to this point, a 7 point underdog that is the perfect role for Butler, they have lived with it all tournament and don’t be surprised if at the end of the night Cinderella wears the crown of National Champion.
