Dillon Baxter, Is He USC's Next Reggie Bush

The USC Trojans have been lacking an electrifying running back since the days of Reggie Bush. Are those days over, have they found salvation in a freshman named Dillon Baxter?

Dillon Baxter, who is he and why should I care? He was a highly sought high school recruit who played quarterback and running back for Mission Bay High School, who during Saturday's scrimmage electrified his coaches and teammates.

What did he do to become today's Internet buzz, he broke one for 50 yards. A running back breaking one for 50 yards is no big deal, that is what they are supposed to do. Hit the hole and go or get around the corner and turn on the jets.

That it was a freshman doing it, is a feat and good sign of things to come. It is not so much that this freshman did it, it's the way he did it.

Below you will see the video demonstrating this kid's skills. It is about 50 seconds into the video, right after Junior Defensive Tackle DaJohn Harris strips quarterback Mitch Mustain of the ball and rumbles 52 yards before Mustain catches and tackles Harris.

Before we crown this kid the next Reggie Bush or do as some have, speculate as to his draft status, the kid is only a freshman. The run you saw was against the starting D line, but the secondary was comprised of walk ons and other non starters.

It is nice to see a kid show that much promise and hopefully he will have a stellar career, but one run in one practice is just that, one run in one practice.
